Protecting Networks from
Spam & Abuse
AbuseBL is an independent, real-time IP and domain reputation blocklist. We detect and track sources of spam, phishing, and email abuse to help networks and mail servers stay secure.
What is AbuseBL?
AbuseBL.org operates a DNS-based blocklist (DNSBL) for IP addresses and domains associated with spam and email abuse. Our infrastructure continuously monitors multiple threat vectors to maintain an accurate and up-to-date reputation database.
Honeypot Network
We operate a distributed network of honeypot email addresses. Any IP sending email to these traps is immediately flagged as a spam source.
Direct Abuse Detection
Spam sent directly to domains under our management is automatically captured and the originating IP or domain is recorded.
Client Reports
Our partners and clients submit verified spam reports which are processed and cross-referenced before being added to the blocklist.
Automatic Delisting
All listings expire automatically. No manual delisting requests are needed — stop the abuse and your IP or domain will be removed in due course.
How Does It Work?
Mail servers and network operators query our DNSBL to check whether an IP address or domain is associated with spam activity before accepting or relaying email.
Spam Activity Detected
Our systems detect spam from a specific IP or domain via honeypots, direct abuse, or client reports.
Entry Added to Blocklist
The IP or domain is listed in our DNSBL with a timestamp and severity level.
Mail Servers Query the DNSBL
Operators query our blocklist via DNS; flagged entries return a positive result causing the email to be rejected or marked.
Automatic Expiry
Listings expire automatically after the penalty period. Repeated offences result in progressively longer blocks.
Listed on AbuseBL?
